Each system integrator should have contract-based access to system history. It is not possible to provide efficient service without the possibility of re-tracking information about ongoing processes. In small systems, it is usually possible to download logs from network elements. However, for larger systems, it is necessary to use special network monitoring software. Among the most well-known are probably Zabbix and Nagios. These monitoring software can not be compared with integration software, whose primary purpose is to ensure effective operator supervision over the system. In the case of a malfunctioning network, visualization software options are quite limited. The operator is only able to give to the service technician a basic information that for example "camera does not work, the cameras are blocked" etc. At this moment, the IT technician responsible for maintenance must be able to connect through a secure connection (VPN) to the system and find out the history of the system. A good example of this is frequent problems with the quality of fiber optic connections. A situation where, for example, there is some dirt in the optical connector, can cause packet loss. Their number can be read in the Status menu of switches, but it is always the current value. There is missing an information about time when the packets were damaged and discarded if a minute, an hour or a year ago. The monitoring software keeps this history and displays it clearly in charts. It provides valuable information for effective service intervention. Even for the end customer, it is definitely a saving money because the technician is directly focused on repairing a particular problematic link. Therefore, we recommend system integrators, when designing the system, to count on this monitoring software and, if technically possible, have VPN connections available from the end customer.

We recommend using OM3 and OM4 optical fibers. When using fibers OM1 and OM2, you should expect problems with bandwidth over greater distances. Typical bandwidths: OM1 160 - 200 MHz / 1km, OM2 400 - 500 MHU / 1km, OM3 2000 MHz / 1km, OM4 4700 MHz / 1km.

Yes, the switch allows you to respond to the state of the remote device input by shutting down the port. PoE remains active, so you do not have to wait for the camera to initialize when it is restored, it is instantly available.

I noticed different behavior of RSTP protocol between your switch and competitive switch in the following situation. Two switches interconnected by optical cable. On one of these devices is filtering outgoing frames (Egress filtering: No unknown destination address). At this point, it is available only one switch, because fiber optic port on your switch is blocked by RSTP protocol. However, if your switch is replaced by competitive devices with similar configuration, both switches are available. Filtering frames (Egress filtering) causes BPDU frames are sent in only one direction, because the second direction is filtered. This causes that the first switch knows about the other, but the other does not know the first. This state is protected by the so-called "Dispute mechanism". That was introduced to the standards 802.1D-2004, it solves the problem by blocking the port to prevent bridge loops. Our implementation of RSTP protocol is in accordance with this standard. Other manufacturers may have a different implementation of RSTP protocol based on the older standard that "dispute mechanism" does not contain.

Yes, they will. In case of USB reset, default IP address as written on the label of the switch will be set. When uploading the default configuration via LAN management, the IP address of the switch changes to default value 127.0.0.1; therefore change the IP address of the switch before confirming the default configuration

The agreement ensures interoperability between manufacturers of SFP modules and SFP slots of network elements. SFP modules include EEPROM. It stores the information about module type, supported speed, optical interface type, etc. The most widespread standards in IT are standards 100BASE-LX and 1000BASE-LX (LC connectors) with communication over 2 fibers. This has probably led to the fact that some commercial switches do not support more up-to-date single-fiber standards 100BASE-BX and 1000BASE-BX. Specifically it is BYTE 6 in EEPROM (Ethernet Compliance Codes). For the above reasons, all SFP modules BX-1000-... have bit 1 (1000BASE-LX) and SFP modules BX-1000-... bit 4 (100BASE-LX) set in BYTE 6. The modules are then easily detected even by a switch without the implementation of 100/1000BASE-BX support.

In a camera is “frozen”, it is uncomfortable to climb a pole or drive 100km to restart it. For such cases, we added function IP-Watchdog to the switches. It watches the camera address and in case of communication loss performs automatic PoE restart. IP Watchdog does not only restart PoE but it can also watch any IP addresses and in case of their failure, it can close any contact in the LAN-RING network.

Transferring input from one device to many as in point-to-mutlipoint is limited in the ratio of 1:9 which is given by the number of transmitting addresses. In the opposite case, i.e. receiving data from multiple places to one (multipoint-to-point) the transmission is not in basic systems limited. In case of complex systems with multiple contacts and their remapping to various points in the network, the transfer is limited to 8

The number of data buses is limited only by the number of physical points of connection. We distinguish the buses by internal switch addressing. Each switch has so-called receiving and transmitting addresses that are used for communication with other switches. Configuration of these addresses is in the hands of the user. In general, the number of buses is not limited but keep in mind the response time, which is in LAN-RING system 3.6ms, and bus overload.

PoE function is by default set to “disable”. Thus, ports to which cameras or devices supporting PoE are connected must be activated in configuration. If PoE still does not work the switch can skip detection (Ignore Discovery). We recommend this setting also when using devices with PoE+ in order to ensure max. current throughput.

Yes, it is, LAN-RING system naturally provides this option. In such cases, we recommend turning off the LAN-RING function in the switch configuration.

Recommended load is max. 80% of maximum load. Maximum load is 1000Mbps x 0.8 = recommended load is max. 800Mbps for 2G, resp. 80Mbps for 200M.
