EMC Radiation and Immunity Tests

The term electromagnetic compatibility defines:

  • The ability of the device to work properly even in an environment where there are other sources of electromagnetic radiation
  • The ability, not to unacceptably affect their surroundings by their own activities, ie not to emit signals that could disturb other devices

Although scientists have been dealing with electromagnetic compatibility since the 1960s, it was only a scientific discipline for a narrow circle of experts at that time. The importance of electromagnetic compatibility of the device has increased rapidly with a steep increase of production of microprocessor and communication technology.

As a manufacturer of the devices for critical infrastructure systems, we are fully aware of the importance of electromagnetic compatibility. Developed devices are first subjected to pre-certification tests in our laboratory, followed by independent authority tests.

The Most Commonly Used EMC Standards

  • EN 55024 - Information Technology Equipment - Immunity characteristics - Limits and methods of measurement
  • EN 50121-4 - Railway Applications - Emission and immunity of the signalling and telecommunications apparatus
  • EN 55016-2-1 - Methods of measurement of disturbances and immunity - Conducted disturbance measurements
  • EN 61000-4-2 – Contact Discharge - Electrostatic discharge immunity test
  • EN 61000-4-2 – Air Discharge - Electrostatic discharge immunity test
  • EN 61000-4-3 – Radiated, radio-frequency, electromagnetic field immunity test
  • EN 61000-4-4 – Electrical fast transient/burst immunity test
  • EN 61000-4-5 – Surge Immunity Test
  • EN 61000-4-6 – Immunity to conducted disturbances, induced by radio-frequency fields
  • EN 61000-4-8 – Power frequency magnetic field immunity test
  • EN 61000-4-9 – Pulse magnetic field immunity test
  • EN 55032 – Electromagnetic compatibility of multimedia equipment - Emission Requirements
